Short answer: Probably somewhere between 40 to 60 hours.
Longer answer: It's going to depend on a variety of things: the make/model of the engine, the transmission being used, and the vehicle that’s being repowered.
If you're looking to convert something pre-computer, a set of engine mounts and a few adapters can get you there pretty fast. Then it's just a matter of the fabrication, wiring, and welding necessary to get fuel delivery, cooling, and exhaust systems sorted out.
Performing a diesel-engine swap isn’t easy. It takes time, knowledge, and patience. That's why we start every project with a conversation. Before we dive into the specifics, we want to find out your goals for the conversion so that we can point you in the right direction as the inevitable onslaught of choices come up along the conversion road.
The biggest component of a swap involves all of the new electrical work. It is the most time consuming, the most challenging and often requires the most skill. We'll keep you informed throughout the process and ensure that you're aware of the work we're doing, adjustments to timelines, budget, and more.
Swing by the shop and we'd be more than happy to start the conversion conversation.
